Windows Mobile
The technology
Windows Mobile is the name for Microsofts push email technology and all you need for this to work is a Windows 2003 server and a Windows Mobile phone.
The only additional cost (approx £70 pa per server) is for an SSL certificate which encrypts your messages between your server and phone.
There are 2 flavours of Windows Mobile, Standard and Professional. The standard version tends to be used on phones without a touch screen and has slightly less functionality than the professional version.
Windows Mobile has matured over recent years and unlike its desktop counterpart which needs the occassional reboot, with the 2007 release of Windows Mobile 6.0 and more recently 6.1, the system has been rock solid.
You'll find all your familiar programs such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Media Player, Internet Explorer and Outlook with the ability to read HTML emails and read and edit attachments. You also can also access your contacts and diary and even add Flash and Adobe PDF viewers.
The phones

A common misconception is that all Windows Mobile phones use a touchscreen and all Blackberry phones have a keyboard. As you can see this is not the case as there is a phone in virtually every conceivable format.
